Iran animation contender at 2020 Oscar race is set to be screened at local theaters soon.

Animation contender at 2020 Oscars, ‘The Last Fiction’, is set to be screened at Iran local theaters soon.

A media report said Ashkan Rahgozar’s feature animation eligible for the 92nd Academy Awards will get a theatrical release at Iranian cinemas in no time.

The toon in the Animated Feature Film Oscar category is based on the story of 'Zahhak', a tale from an Iranian national epic "The Shahnameh" (Book of Kings), written by Iranian poet Abolqasem Ferdowsi.

‘The Last Fiction’ has gone on screen at a number of global film events, including the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia.

The work premiered at 2018 edition of Annecy- the world’s top animation film festival in France.

Among a long list of accolades, ‘The Last Fiction’ was recently praised as best feature animation at the Epic Animation, Comics and Games Fest in California.

An all-star cast including Parviz Parastouee, Leila Hatami, Hamed Behdad, Baran Kowsari, Ashkan Khatibi, Akbar Zanjanpur and Farrokh Nemati have lent their voices to the characters in the production.
