Animation contender at 2020 Oscars, ‘The Last Fiction’, is set to be screened at Iran local theaters soon.
A media report said Ashkan Rahgozar’s feature animation eligible for the 92nd Academy Awards will get a theatrical release at Iranian cinemas in no time.
The toon in the Animated Feature Film Oscar category is based on the story of 'Zahhak', a tale from an Iranian national epic "The Shahnameh" (Book of Kings), written by Iranian poet Abolqasem Ferdowsi.
‘The Last Fiction’ has gone on screen at a number of global film events, including the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia.
The work premiered at 2018 edition of Annecy- the world’s top animation film festival in France.
Among a long list of accolades, ‘The Last Fiction’ was recently praised as best feature animation at the Epic Animation, Comics and Games Fest in California.
An all-star cast including Parviz Parastouee, Leila Hatami, Hamed Behdad, Baran Kowsari, Ashkan Khatibi, Akbar Zanjanpur and Farrokh Nemati have lent their voices to the characters in the production.
